The God Who Is. Pt. 1

We have made God, and Satan into two totally different people than what they are depicted to be in the Bible. When we think of Satan we think of a guy in a red suit, with horns, a pitchfork, and a pointy tail who always sits on your shoulder telling you to do wrong. That is not the case. And the common picture of God is this always kind, weak deity, who is always telling us to do the "lame" thing, or telling us to be a "goody-two-shoes." That is not the case. For both of them! They are not powers that are equally matched, as depicted by Hollywood, because if that were so, God would have not had the power to cast Satan from Heaven. We need to stop right now and exam the two beings who have been here since far before we were born.
Who is God?
That is a question that people ask frequently, and some do not receive the answer they are looking for. People want to view God as a crutch. As someone you go to when there is nowhere else to turn in your life. God is much more than a crutch. Yes, you can fall back on Him, but God wants a relationship with you. How would you feel if someone treated you the way you treat God? You set Him aside for when your life is crumbling. God wants to be more than that to you! He wants you to talk to Him daily! God is not distant, and angry. He is evident in your life even now! Hold at your hand. Do you see what I see? You see five fingers, fingernails, little lines. I see that too, but I also see something beautiful! Something miraculous! Did you know what you see is what God sees? When you look at your hand, you see what God sees when He sees His own hand! We are made in his image. Now, I am not implying that we are God, because there is but one God. But rather He loved us enough to make us like Him! That is the understatement of the ages: God is Love. We don't understand that. GOD IS LOVE! A God of love wouldn't become angry at me because I did wrong would He? I beg to differ. We can not use the old saying, "Well, I'm only human" any longer. We are human, but so was Jesus. Jesus never sinned. You can argue that Jesus was both God and human, yes He was. But He was also human! He was tempted by Satan, just as we all are! Yes, God is love, but He won't stand back and watch the world sin against Him. He never has. God is also a God of:
RIGHTEOUSNESS
He has made it evident to us that He does not play around with sin. He didn't when He made the entire world become one big ocean, He didn't when Jonah ran to Tarshish because He wouldn't preach the word, and as my preacher says "I see a rabbit so I think I'll chase it."
We are all being a Jonah! We see sin! We acknowledge sin, but we don't stand up to sin! For instance (and I know I'll get hate comments because of this, but pick a fight with the bible and you'll find there won't be a round two) Gay marriage. We see it, we acknowledge it, but we do nothing to stop it. You can say "But that's their life! They should live the way they want to live!" Well, you wouldn't tell a cannibal that now would you? No! Regardless of your belief system America was made by our founding fathers, who were CHRISTIANS! If they knew what was going on today in America they would roll over in their graves! We need to go back to a time where being homosexual was frowned apon! And it still is, but by God.
You see, God does love those who are homosexuals, but He hates their sin. And Christian! If you say you are a Christian and you do not stand up for what's right, and when you do not preach the gospel to people, what good are you to God? I'd rather offend someone into Heaven, than flatter someone into Hell! Because let me tell you, Hell is real, and hell is hot. So if you are going to defend homosexual rights, Christian, you go right ahead, but you're NOT part of God's kingdom! God is also a God of:
JUDGMENT
He showed us this with Sodom and Gomorrah. Do you know what their main sin was? Let me make this bold for extra emphasis...eh hm... HOMOSEXUALITY!!! And do you know where that got them?? Destroyed. And if we don't stand up against homosexuality, well we will be destroyed too! You want to try God? Judgment is coming! We as Christians have stepped back and have let the world run the way it wants to, well let me just say that Satan has been have a hay day, and we've dug our hole 2 feet too deep.
